BuckTail of Sleet
Feb. 2nd, 2022 09:55 pmTried to watch a Hallmark movie that featured Locke from "Lost" as the dad of Starbuck from "Battlestar Galactica." It sounded bizarre enough to be interesting, but it wasn't. I was bored and disgruntled, turned it off. How are the mighty fallen! I suppose it'a a payday.
It snowed, but not as much as some places. Maybe 4-5 inches? I went out to shovel the driveway, but while I was working on it, my neighbor Irish came out and said "Don't go crazy out here! I have to go out on a call, but when I come back, I'll do your driveway along with mine." He was gone a little longer than he probably wanted to be, but true to his word, once he got back, he fixed it in a jiffy. He is such a nice guy. I actually enjoy the work, but with the amount of snow we had today, it would have taken awhile, so I was happy to go inside and prep dinner instead.
Dr. Music came, and cheered the Sparrowhawk by assuring him that his piano playing has improved over the last couple of weeks. Ever since he had COVID, the Sparrowhawk has felt that his practicing was not up to his standard, so this is encouraging to hear. Dr. Music helpfully dragged our recycling container back up the driveway after the truck came. He also helped the Sparrowhawk screw the cover plate back on the stove light. The Sparrowhawk could not get himself into the pretzel position required to get under the stove hood and wield the screwdriver. Dr. Music is tall, but young and flexible, and he managed to get it done. While the music lesson was going on, I busied myself with putting away some laundry and more post-Christmas odds and ends and cleaning up the kitchen. Now that Candlemas has arrived, Christmas is definitely, completely over for another year. I can't play any more Christmas music. We hunted up "To Welcome In the Spring" and put that on, although it is a big joke. The sun has not been visible for days.
"When Candlemas Day dawns bright and fine,
Stay in the house and drink more wine.
If on Candlemas Day you can't see the sun,
Go back to bed until winter is done."
The original saying is in Latin hexameters, of course.
