Apparently I'm feeling a little better today. The sun coming through the window and shining on my tulips filled me with the most exquisite pleasure. Then I insisted on bringing the Sparrowhawk some coffee, as a gesture of defiant normalcy. In the refrigerator, when I went to get the coffee cream, I discovered a desiccated potato, left in there with no protective covering.
Me: "Oh, hello little potato. There you are, all alone in the refrigerator. Perhaps it was thought that you would recover your succulence. Alas, no."
The Sparrowhawk: "Oh, I was going to warm that up and eat it. With a little cheese."
Me: "No, you most certainly will not. Because I'm throwing it out."
(Waves potato at him)
"Look at this potato! Go ahead, give it a squeeze! Does that feel like the kind of thing a sane human being would consume with pleasure? I think not. Goodbye, little potato."
The Sparrowhawk (fondly): "I'm glad you're feeling a little better."
I told you that fussing was a sign of recovery.

Also: it is remarkable how tasty some canned chicken soup can be when it's the first thing you've eaten in 36 hours. Yum yum.

And it addition, today is the Diva's birthday! I was able to call her, and we sang her the birthday song much better than we did for the Nipper, when we were both sick but not with covid.

Watched the Kentucky Derby and got quite a surprise! It's just as well I don't bet, because I wouldn't have won. Queenie says the Fireman's brother won 2,000 dollars in the exacta!! I'm fading at this point, but will watch some Pride and Prejudice before going back to bed. If you can't rewatch P&P when you have covid, when can you??

If you get covid, do try to get the antivirals. They seem helpful.
