Probably everyone thinks their own bed is the best, but ours really is the finest in the land. It was downright chilly when we arrived home yesterday--66 degrees in the house--so I put the down comforter back on the bed. It was perfect--very cosy. We both slept well. I still felt somewhat debilitated in the morning. It was mostly my knees, which were very puffy and stiffened up on account of sporting with the waves on Monday. However, they got gradually better as the day wore on and I moved about more. It would have been a great day to stay in bed, but I had a previously-made appointment to visit with Madame. Lordy, lordy . . . I would say there was pent-up demand for venting on her part. She's got a lot of troubles going on. They are complicated and involve electronic transactions that are being poorly managed due to increasing age and falling behind in the management of devices.

So that was somewhat tiring. Then, a little work on the novel at long last. Up to 12,000 words. Roll on the inevitable kidnapping . . . After that I had to drive over to the credit union to get a new debit card, to replace the one that apparently got read at some point while I was in the airport and subsequently canceled due to misuse. While I was there I officially disputed the two cashapp transactions made by persons unknown. I feel better having a working card again. I have to get me one of those RFID-resistant cases. (Speaking of elderly persons falling behind the curve with electronics, sigh . . . I'm always worrying about the moment when I slip off the face of the wave.)

The Sparrowhawk went to the gym and I started on a few minor items of catch-up. Tomorrow I should be able to do more. A couple of days before we left the Diva's, Kansas started to feel ill. Before Muffinhead left on Sunday, he had started to feel ill, too. I'm sure you see where this is going . . . . I texted the Diva to see how Kansas was doing, and yep, you guessed it, both he and Muffinhead tested positive for COVID. Dang it, there's just no end to this. We are fine, however. And the Diva had it already. She may be in trouble at work, but they can't very well send her home, because they already sent her co-teacher home because the co-teacher's husband was exposed. The Diva says Kansas and Muffinhead are feeling a little better, so no medical attention needed.

AGH so frustrating, but I'm glad they're already feeling better.

I soothed my anxiety a little by scheduling a PCR screening for Friday morning, even though I am on vacation and will have to make a special trip to campus. Those have to be scheduled 24 hours in advance and you don't usually get the results until almost 24 hours later, but I feel better knowing they detect lower levels of infection one might not notice from symptoms. Why was I anxious? Because I walked around maskless outdoors in Center City on Sunday for several hours, and the sidewalks were somewhat crowded. It's now Thursday and I feel okay, but...anxious. And Kimi is coming Friday evening.
