I had a fantasy that today, a day without appointments or interruptions, would be the day that I got everything all set and could then just bask until it was time to go. It didn't work out quite that way. It all started with going to bed nice and early, only to be awakened by the Sparrowhawk shouting very loudly at some scary dream animals. My hyper-vigilance alarm went to eleventy and I pretty much leapt out of bed, getting both feet on the floor before turning around to go "Huh? What?" We tried to go back to sleep, but neither of us could for at least an hour. Even then I was twitchy until daylight, which I greeted with all the enthusiasm of a vampire.

However, I had a Thing One in my mind, which is always helpful in getting started with the day. In this case, it was Fix the Hoses. I disconnected the bad one, tested the spare one, and was happy to see that it was good to go. So I hooked it up, laboriously re-deployed it, and gave it a test run. It's not really super-efficient, but I think it's adequate for the time being. Maybe when I get back I can arrange things better. I was also looking at the leaky hose, and I think I might be able to fix it, given a little more time.

I did a little more packing and a little bathroom cleaning. Then we went to the bookstore, something we haven't enjoyed together for a long time. We had coffee, and I reached my goal of 20,000 words! Only 60,000 more to go . . . but it's still nice to have come this far. After eating some leftovers for dinner, we did a little more packing, and I made a quick run to the store for a few things we still needed, like some anti-seasickness pills just in case, and some more Ziploc bags. When you get old, there are a lot more piddly things to pack, like all the medications! I just want to have my bag packed and zipped, and to contemplate it sitting there all ready to go. Also it would be nice if the tour company sent us our e-tickets! That's the Sparrowhawk's Thing One for tomorrow: call them and ask what is going on.
