I feel cranky, but there's really no good reason for it. It's just because I attempted once again to order online from the grocery store, and the website got on my last nerve. The Sparrowhawk got home from the gym and figured out how to change our preferred credit card to the new one that didn't get hacked, so my order went through and all is well. Sorta. With the tip and the online order fee, I hardly made anything on the sale prices, BUT we will get a 99 cents off gas coupon, so that's worth something. Thanks, me, for my service.

Family health problems continue, but at least they're not getting worse. Fingers crossed. I spent some time texting and on a phone call because of this. So once again, I didn't get outside, although it was a very nice day. I have to do something about this. I need to start exercising again! (Calm down, calm down--I've only been home for two days . . . .) I did get back into my writing and added another 1000 words. Dejah Thoris has survived another attempt on her life.

Here are a couple of things I learned on recent trips. There's a whole list of things the airlines won't pay for if you put them in your checked baggage and it gets lost. They are deemed "unacceptable for transportation within the continental U.S." They are: cash monies, securities, negotiable papers, irreplaceable business documents, books, manuscripts, publications, jewelry, silverware, precious metals, paintings and/or works of art, samples, fragile articles, computers, electronic devices, computer/electronic software, and/or similar valuable articles. The above mentioned items should always be carried with the customer and not placed in checked baggage." Some of those do seem like no-brainers, I admit, but books?? I had an expensive and beautiful art book that I bought at a museum and placed in my checked bag because it was heavy. It seems that was a mistake.

Another thing I learned is that it is increasingly difficult to buy anything with cash. I tried to buy a bottle of water at LaGuardia. I tried at three different places, and none of them accepted, y'know, MONEY. Nope. Only plastic will do. Most of the places where one could get food required paying on a screen, using a credit card. Helpful humans were in short supply.

I say this not in a spirit of fogeyism, but merely as an FYI for those who may not have traveled recently. Things have changed.
