Half of our weekend and two-thirds of our social obligations are successfully completed! We both had a bad night last night, woke up at 5, came downstairs and commiserated with each other until it started to get light, then went back to bed and had a nice nap. So, absolutely nothing got accomplished this morning, but at least we weren't too sleep-deprived to function. We were up and dressed in time to go out in the pouring rain and meet old friends at a pretty nice, diner-ish food place. The food was diner-ish in a very old style way, not the new modern opulent diner way. If that makes any sense. My tummy survived better than I thought it would. One of our friends wanted a keto meal, and fortunately, they had walleye. When your diner serves pan-fried walleye, that's how you know you're in Michigan. Or possibly anywhere in the Great Lakes states--Minnesota and Wisconsin might have walleye. But not Illinois. There, you would get catfish, at least if you were on the Missouri side of the state.

Back home, I actually got a small amount of writing done. Then we went to church, and from there straight to a dinner with some people we don't know very well. All in the pouring rain, which continued. Dinner was lovely and included some home made sausages that were extremely good. We ate on the host's screen porch with a nice view of their yard. People were friendly and we enjoyed their conversation. Then we drove home again, still in the pouring rain, but with a side of darkness just for variety. So far so good . . . .
