ismoWell, the eagles have landed--last night--and as expected I was too tired to blog about it. Perhaps I should say that the wolverines have landed, because that's what you call yourself if you're a Michigander from this fancy university. We're all wolverines now! They were very tired, but very excited to be here. The pizza and salad was waiting for them as is our custom.
Long ago when more people lived here, we had a huge basket next to the door, into which people threw their shoes on entering. I mean, it wasn't mandatory, if you were just a guest, but residents and regulars went shoeless in the house. Throwing the shoes in there was one way of making sure that you could find them again when you wanted to go out, as otherwise they got lost under beds, in laundry heaps, etc. The shoe basket was convenient. Periodically, it would be dumped and we would throw out all the shoes that didn't fit any more or which there was only one of. Now that it's mostly just the two of us, we have a sort of shoe tray in which people can dump shoes, especially in the winter when they're caked with snow and should not be in contact with the wood floor. Whenever the kids come home, I smile in the morning when I come downstairs and see their shoes in the pile by the door.
We had a relaxing day in which the Sparrowhawk went to the boxing gym, the kids went swimming at a local pool, we Zoomed with Deb and the Prussian, the Sparrowhawk Zoomed with his high school friends, Tron took a nap, the Lumberjack worked hard on some of his course prep, and I managed to get 650 words farther along with the WIP. Tron and I made progress on the jigsaw puzzle. We reconvened at dinner time and walked over to the Greek Orthodox church in the neighborhood for the Greek festival, where we ate Greek food and watched the dance troupe performing. Beautiful clouds were piled high in the sky, and it wasn't too excessively hot. A fine day all around.
