Aug. 20th, 2022 10:04 pmWe had a busy but nice day. The Sparrowhawk went to his boxing gym. When he came home, we went to the bookstore to pick up the remainder of his brother Fritz's book run. We also bought a book about art history and some calligraphy pens. Then we went to the bakery and got a loaf of bread and some croissants. We stopped at the grocery on the way home to get more beans and salad. Tron and the Lumberjack had gone for a walk and preferred not to join us. At home, I worked on my WIP for awhile, and the Lumberjack continued his lecture writing in my office, which has been dedicated to him for the duration of their visit. I think Tron may have taken a nap, and then did some weeding before the rain began. The Sparrowhawk made a big pot of his famous beans. I made a big salad, and then we went to church. A gloomy, damp day went whole hog into a drenching downpour just before we left, but the clouds had blown away by the time we went home. I cut some kale leaves and basil from my garden, mixed the kale with bok choy, pak choy, soy sauce, a dash of hoisin, and a handful of peanuts to make greens to go with the beans. The basil was chopped and put on the dish of sliced tomatoes, along with some mozzarella bitss. The mozzarella looked amusingly like tiny marshmallows. We also had sweet corn. It was a pretty good dinner. After dinner, the kids shared one of the rolls from the bakery, and then the Lumberjack went and got some tortilla chips and salsa to go with the leftover beans, and ate a little more of them. This is what happens when you sit around the table talking long enough. Second dinner begins, or perhaps just a cleanup routine. The kids did the dishes in a trice, as they are so good at doing. Everybody is tired now.
