This morning, the Sparrowhawk dropped me off at the bookstore to meet Madame, took the car and drove himself to Rochester to meet some of his high school friends for lunch. He did this last year, and I went with him. But although I quite like his friends and would have enjoyed visiting with them, the 2+ hours of travel each way made it an all day affair. I just didn't feel in the mood for that much visiting. I got quite enough out of my lunch with Madame! I had texted to ask if she might give me a ride home, but as usual, she didn't see my text. I figured if she couldn't, I'd just call an Uber or something. Well! One of her tales involved how she had been in this very bookstore last night, and her car wouldn't start. She had to call her daughter to come and help her get it started. So it was with some trepidation that I accompanied her to the car. It did start, thank goodness. The windshield wipers also came on, so Madame was zooming down the street fiddling with the wipers, while telling me how her seat was too low now and she couldn't see out properly. . . . Just slightly nervewracking. She planned to go from dropping me off to the car dealer to ask them what might be amiss with the car. I encouraged her in this. I also said maybe she should point out that the "check engine" light was on. She said "Oh, it's always like that." However, she agreed that she'd ask about it.

When I got home, I tried to get going on Dejah Thoris again. I think I'm back on the right track now. Fingers crossed. I had an impromptu Zoom with another friend, ate some leftover salmon, and thought it would be good to go for a walk on this final summer day. However, I was so tired that when I went upstairs to change, I fell on the bed and took a nap instead. The Sparrowhawk came home in good spirits after his busy day. Time to watch "Amazing Race" and then back to sleep.
