Halloween of Leave
Oct. 31st, 2022 08:47 pmWe were tired from the weekend, so we went to bed early last night. All this accomplished from my point of view was that I woke up at 3:30 am instead of 4:30. I lay in bed for some time, then gave up and went downstairs to sulk and glare at the dark, dark windowpanes. In theory, I could get a lot done in the wee hours, but my brain doesn't work that well. After the Sparrowhawk got up, I talked to Queenie, got a haircut, did some reading, and prepped our two pumpkins for carving. I did one, and the Sparrowhawk did the other. They were a cheerful although fanged couple and looked great when lit up on the porch steps. I added 700 more words and had a Zoom with a friend. The Sparrowhawk made some of his patented stir-fry. We were just finishing when the first trick or treaters showed up. It was still light out.
It was warm enough to sit with the door open and watch as the sun set and darkness fell. The neighbors across the street had their firepit going on their front patio. Little squads of kids scampered through the neighborhood. It seemed sociable and fun. We were giving away candy by the handful. After worrying that I didn't get enough, it soon became apparent that I had too much! Between 7 and 8, we only had a couple of older kids--still wearing good costumes, though--so at 8 we turned off the light and called it a night.
Queenie's hemoglobin has gone up to 13! It was 4 before, so that's progress. I had my blood work done last week. My hemoglobin was 15.9--so no problems there. My other numbers are all within normal parameters, including my A1C. This is a big relief. My PCP sent her usual cheery boilerplate note that says "Your results are acceptable and I have no concerns." But she did add a smiley face to it. In other medical news, we got in touch with Miss B. She says she is "all right." Her medical problem was something not heart related, and hopefully manageable. She says she'll keep in touch. <3 <3
