The Sparrowhawk and I both ran around cleaning up things this morning before he had his piano lesson and I went out to see Madame. I think he did more work than I did. My time with Madame was disturbing today. She was fine at first. She had her pre-op check with her PCP and then the surgeon yesterday, and was okayed to have her cochlear implant later this month. But after a short time she started having some terrible stomach pain. She turned really pale and said she was having chills. I offered to drive her to the doctor or to call her daughter, but she wasn't having it. She's so eager to get this surgery that she's not going to see a doctor for anything, lest it be postponed. Finally I walked her over to the bathroom and sat outside for awhile to make sure she wouldn't fall down or anything. Eventually she emerged and said she felt better. We sat down again for awhile, until she felt up to going home to rest. I got a text from her later to say that she was feeling better after lying down at home. Keeping my fingers crossed for her.

It was a surrealistically nice day for November in Michigan--another 70+ sunny day, perhaps the last one this year. I sat out in the back yard and continued working through my first draft. It was hard to focus, rather than thinking about all the yard work I should be doing. I called an old friend with dementia and other issues to put him in touch with a different friend who wants to talk to him about photos from the old days. We had plenty of choice in leftovers for supper, so no cooking today!
