The Sparrowhawk made us bacon and eggs for breakfast, and then we went to the bookstore and got Advent calendars for the kids. Like many of our little traditions, this is probably not important to them, but we like doing it. We didn't send anyone Halloween candy this year. It was just too much. The candy was hard to get, expensive, and didn't even taste very good once we got it. So we kind of wimped out. The calendars were fun to choose, and we can pass them out when we see everybody for Thanksgiving. (We still have some leftover candy that we'll bring along in case someone might eat it, too.)

The bookstore is crazy busy. The Sparrowhawk expressed a desire to sit down, so I suggested he go to the cafe and I would get coffee for us. He found Madame seated at a table, and asked if he might join her! I think she was quite tickled to see him. She spends many days sitting in the bookstore cafe, just to be around people. It took me fifteen or twenty minutes to get two lattes. The barista was slow. Then we sat and chatted with Madame for awhile. I wouldn't say it was snowing exactly, but weird little random bits of frozen white stuff were falling out of the sky.

It would have been a better day if I'd had more than 3 or 4 hours of sleep. The button got pushed inside my brain, and I could not go back to sleep. Yet neither was I really awake. It was an altered state of consciousness that lasted most of the day. I don't like this because it takes so much energy to stay focused and suppress discomfort enough to do anything. Grr. I hope my autopilot will turn itself off tonight.

I kept waking up over and over from about 3 am until about 5:45. So of course I dropped off after that and got jolted by my 6:30 am alarm (set to radio, so at least it's music and not horrid beeping).
