Nov. 15th, 2022 10:18 pmThis was our morning to watch Bird Baby. She was a happy baby today and didn't cry a bit. She chewed voraciously on my fingers, and she's definitely getting one sharp little tooth. Pretty soon she'll have a full set of chompers! We just spent a lot of time singing to her and boosting her up so she can squiggle around and pretend to stand up and whatnot. When she started to get fussy at one point, the Sparrowhawk let her help him play the piano. When we arrived, Dr. Music was wearing a nice shirt and tie. He said one of his classmates always wears a tie, so the rest of the class decided they'd all dress up too, just to troll him a bit. Dr. Music also treated us to a Chopin waltz and a Bach two-part invention, as a warm-up for his class. So we got a mini-concert in addition to baby time.
Today was the first day of real snow, and we had to brush off the car before we could drive over to see Bird Baby. It still wasn't sticking to the streets and sidewalks, but it lay thick and white over the green grass and the dry leaves. It kept snowing steadily all day. It was a dark and dim day. I did more Thanksgiving planning, made a pot of ham and bean soup and froze it to take with us next week. I also cooked dinner for us, and made some cherry coffee cake to give Dr. Music to take home with him when he comes tomorrow to give the Sparrowhawk his lesson. I tried to work on the frame story for the novel, but ended up mostly chatting with the Nonesuch about life, the ERB universe, and everything. I keep thinking of more and more things I should take with me for Thanksgiving. I feel like the quartermaster of some WWI battalion that's opening a new front.
