It was even more of a fairy tale winter wonderland today, though perhaps not quite as magical because I had to motivate around getting things done in it. I slept slightly more than last night, so I was marginally more with it than yesterday. We have these things called "snow bands" here. It's not Frosty et al. playing saxophone in the snow--it's bursts of wind and heavy snow sweeping across from the lake, and then there's a break, and then there's another snow band. I had to sweep a couple of inches of white off the car before going to the bookstore to pick up my voucher. They gave me 54 dollars worth of store credit!! Whee! I can certainly use that up in the Christmas season. And they took 24 out of 25 books and only returned one to me. I felt pretty successful about that.

I saw Madame's car in the lot as I went in, and spotted her sitting in the cafe, reading a book. So I got a coffee and invited myself to join her for a few minutes. I just wanted to see how she was doing. She said she had some stomach medication, so I hope she's going to feel better. I think it cheered her up to have a little company. It was fun to sit in the cafe, where they've turned the fireplace on again, and watch the snow pelting down outside. When I left to head over to the grocery store, she also packed up and said she was going to Whole Foods.

I then did a MASSIVE grocery shop. I used the big cart for once. This is when I miss my father. When he used to come to our house for holidays, he always insisted on going to the store with me and "helping" with the shopping--which included buying anything and everything he thought would be fun and then picking up the check. Now I'm the grandmother so I have to do it myself. I was kinda running low on moxie by the time I got to the far end of the store, so I don't feel I have done this in a very organized fashion, and I know I forgot a few things that I will probably have to go back for. I got home just in time to work on the WIP a bit. I lit some candles, because the day was dark, and their little golden flames showed up bravely against the blowing snow outside the window. It was a good time to stay home.
