As I drove off to the grocery store this morning, I saw a hawk cross the road, silhouetted against a dark sky troubled with light. I was trying to split up my shopping so I could do the minimum to get my gas coupon each time, thus nabbing two 75 cents off coupons. It was a bit complicated. Also I didn't know what to get exactly, because Tron and the Lumberjack texted to say they were not feeling well and might not be able to come on Wednesday. Later, they said they were feeling a little better and might be able to make it here on Thursday. I hope so, because we're fixin' to have a blizzard up here, starting Thursday night, so if they aren't here by then, they'll have to wait until after Christmas. Mostly I'm worried about them feeling all right. They've suffered so much from colds and things, and I know it's because they're working so hard.

Well, that was kind of a blow, and then when I got home, I thought I'd better give Madame a quick call. Today was supposed to be the day she got her cochlear implant turned on. When I Facetimed her, she was in the ER with her daughter. She had another fall in her house. She said she'd call me tomorrow to let me know if we can have coffee or not. I have a feeling she won't get out that soon, but maybe. Who knows! Later, Wol called from his current residence in rehab after his fall. I suspect they're not letting him out of there until after they amputate his foot . . . but his big concern is all his camera equipment, which in his mind is of great worth. He wants the Sparrowhawk to come and get it--and ideally, to drive him back to his old house so he can gloat over his hoard once more, like an ancient, wounded dragon. This is never going to happen. People get sick and fall down, cars break down, power goes out, blizzards come. Tis the season, I guess. The rest of the day has not been an improvement. I put away laundry, tried again (probably in vain) to get the spots out of some shirts, and I'm in the middle of cleaning everything off the table in the family room, dusting everything, and putting some things away. Needless to say . . . I'm not ready.
