This morning, we got up to another few inches of snow. Also, we had been plowed in. So we had to shovel out our driveway before we could go to the gym. I think this shows an extra level of dedication! Even though I have to give the Sparrowhawk most of the credit because he did most of it before I managed to get my clothes and boots on. While I was working on the end of the driveway, to my amazement, our next-door neighbor, Robert, came along with a snowblower, and started clearing the snow away from the Sparrowhawk's car. He left it parked on the street, thinking the plows never come down our street so early, and then, of course, they came early and he got plowed in too. Robert has been kind of fragile and reclusive, and I haven't actually seen him outside for quite awhile. There he was, with icicles on his beard, running his snowblower with great vigor and determination. I felt like hugging him, but didn't, because he is shy. I was, however, blown away by his kindness, and thanked him enthusiastically.

Then we went to the gym, where I hung out doggedly in the red zone. The strength portion has new exercises this week, and I hate them because I can't do them perfectly! There's a lot of shoulder work--beast pose, box push-ups, and the dreaded plank as usual. My shoulders hurt a lot, partly because they're banged up from tae kwon do. But maybe they'll get better, stronger, if I just keep trying. Rrrrahr!

I wrote some cards for people I should write cards to, and accepted the invitation to my niece's wedding shower. I talked to my mother on Facetime. My phone had stopped working again, but the Sparrowhawk made another call to the help desk and fixed it again. My mother sounded pretty good tonight, except for the part where she said she was getting all the right recipes out of the specialty cookbooks. That was a puzzler.

I'm still becalmed in hell on my revisions. I need a better plan, clearly. Like my protagonist, who also needs a better plan.

Maybe you are becalmed because your backbrain is hard at work. Can you do determinedly different things for a few days? Sometimes that helps me. Even though it is usually accompanied by guilt.
