Still kind of tired from the trip. It was raining/snowing when I woke up--precipitation a bit more flirtatious than rain, but moving faster than snow. Some brief gleams of sun passed through the grey clouds as they blew across, and made the big melted droplets on the leaves sparkle like gems. Up in Ishpeming, the nearest town of any size to my brother's house in the woods, it snowed 12 inches! I don't think he's there, though. He's still waiting on a diagnosis for his nerve problems. After talking to Queenie, I went out for a walk in the morning, between waves of rain. It was drizzling a little, but not too much. Fiddlehead ferns are unrolling. Bloodroot is unfolding its leaves. The marsh marigolds and spring beauties have done the opposite--folded themselves up against the chill and the dark clouds. My hips are still aching, so I walked slowly.

Deb and the Prussian will be with us again tomorrow night. Our nearby friend of old times is very sick now. It's kind of now or never to see him, so they'll probably make a quick run over there and then stay with us before going home. I made some bread dough and put it in the refrigerator to rise overnight. I have to do a shopping run tomorrow. Our refrigerator is most uncharacteristically empty!
