Octopus of Bliss

ismoThis was Madame Day. I called this morning to check, and she assured me she wanted to go out. Her daughter was also in the Facetime picture, and it seemed to me they'd been arguing. Her daughter said she could drop her off at the bookstore, and instead of being nice and volunteering to pick her up, I let her! Before I left the house, I gave the Sparrowhawk a bag of cookies to give Dr. Music when he came. I forgot to mention that I made non-dairy chocolate chip cookies last night, in case Dr. Nurse is still avoiding dairy. I made them with margarine, so they were decidely sub-optimal to my taste, but maybe the kids won't notice.
When Mademoiselle dropped Madame off, it was once again my impression that they might have been fighting. I don't think it's working well for Mademoiselle to be Madame's daily caregiver. Madame is still agitating to drive her car. Her other daughter is coming to visit next week. I hope she'll provide a fresh perspective, though when I suggested this to Madame, she seemed perplexed and irritated. Ah well. Mostly we had a nice time. It was a beautiful day. When I arrived to drop her off, Mademoiselle was out, so I had to accompany Madame up her front steps. She is certainly doing better physically, and it's a joy to see her looking less frail and feeling more capable. It took several tries for her to get her door unlocked, but I saw her safely inside with her purse and cane.
I'm afraid I didn't get much done after that. I was tired and disgruntled, and I'd forgotten to take anything out of the freezer to cook. The Sparrowhawk saved the day by going out to get cheeseburgers, and they only killed my stomach slightly. When he went to the gym, I took another walk, but was discouraged by how difficult it seemed. I just have to keep at it. The tree frogs are trilling merrily, perhaps a little obsessively, after dark.
