Jun. 23rd, 2023 09:58 pmIt's amazing how much pleasure flipping a light switch can bring. Shortly after we had eaten some very delicious walleye (baked with lemon) plus more of the infamous mashed potatoes, green beans, and a salad with tomatoes you'd almost believe came out of the garden, a tremendous BANG was heard and all the power went off. The power company said it would be fixed by midnight, sigh. For awhile, we sat and read by the light of the living room windows, which face west. It was a nice quiet evening. It was just trending toward twilight, and we were getting the candles and flashlights ready, when a buzzing, beeping, and clicking sounded, and it all came back on, hours early for a change! While I am a fan of the old-fashioned quiet evening, I was very happy to know that all the appliances were working again. We discovered that the ice cream in the indoor freezer drawer had already started to melt. It was perfection--the exact degree at which I like best to eat it. This is a lesson to us, I suppose. Either 1) keep the ice cream in the more powerful garage freezer, or 2) as soon as the power goes out, get to work eating all the ice cream. There's not always just ONE right answer . . . .
