Sunflower of Zenith
Jul. 11th, 2023 09:48 pmI seem to be on blog strike of late. Mostly because of erratic sleep patterns, resulting in either being up but unable to do anything because I'm reeling from lack of sleep and it's still dark out, or waking up late and grumpy. Meh. I did something to my knee over the weekend, and it is still stiff and painful and doesn't really like to bend. I made a quick trip to the grocery store this morning, and it was hard limping around the parking lot. Meh. The Sparrowhawk is not feeling at his best either, although he saw his movement disorders specialist yesterday, and they think he's doing pretty well. We're expecting company very soon--first Deb and the Prussian on Saturday, then the Nipper and family on Sunday. As usual, I'm not ready. The massive chair will be delivered sometime on Saturday, as well. The Sparrowhawk cut out a cardboard mock-up of its footprint. It is clear we will have to move a bookcase--an undertaking that feels insurmountable, though it probably isn't. I'm in a dangerous mood, in which it has occurred to me for the first time that some books probably shouldn't be preserved. I contemplate simply throwing some of them out, rather than passing them on to another home. "Why should I provide the opportunity for another person to waste a moment of their precious life reading this stupid thing?" What has come over me . . . .
Yesterday I found a paper bag of mushrooms in the refrigerator. The Sparrowhawk bought them, but forgot about them. They were still okay, so I did what the woman who sold them to us said she had done: chopped them up and mixed them with ground beef and made hamburgers. They were quite tasty. I had a few remnant vegetables, so I made stir fry with peppers, onion, bok choy, and carrots. Just for a change, I thought I'd make it sweet and sour. I didn't have any pineapple juice, or any fruit juice, but I found some remnants of a fruit and herbal mixer we'd bought earlier, and tried that. Blackberry and sage are not flavors that I've ever tasted in a stir-fry, but it was good.
