Buckeye of Flourish

Last day of August. We were sitting out in the back yard, lulled by the late summer sun, blue sky, crickets singing, occasional chirping and fluttering of birds and chipmunks in the bushes. I could see the top of my neighbor's sugar maple, the leaves just starting to be kissed by color where they lift themselves sunward. I know summer doesn't officially end for another three weeks, but to me the last day of August always seems like the end. Or at least, the beginning of the end. It makes me want to run to the lake again.

I told the Sparrowhawk last night that when I slept through the night, it would be a sign that I was getting better. I did manage to sleep quite a lot last night. I feel better today. I'm coughing a lot less--like two or three major coughing fits instead of half a dozen--so I'm cautiously optimistic. I'll test myself again tomorrow. Although it seems fairly pointless since I've already tested negative while clearly being still sick.
