Little to say about a rather sub-optimal day. I am sleep-deprived because of waking up at 5 for no good reason. So, what little I did today was done while feeling as if I were hauling a huge rusty anvil around via a chain hooked to my leg. I made a trip to the craft store, which I'd been hoping would be fun, but it wasn't. Then I rushed through the grocery store. They've been having some kind of problems. There was hardly any ice cream, and what there was looked suspiciously as if it had been melted at some point. Other advertised items were missing as well. I wrote an email I had been procrastinating about--a chore rather than a pleasure, though I'm glad I got it done. I forgot entirely to do several things I'd been telling myself I would do today. I tried to take a nap, but was awakened too soon by someone in the neighborhood using what sounded like a chain saw. And so forth. My one good decision of the day was rashly grabbing a tray of supermarket sushi and wolfing it when I got home. Protein. Nom.

While I'm complaining, this has been a very expensive month. Two birthdays and two weddings, one of which involved having to buy a dress as well as give a present. Car repairs. A donation for the fundraiser for our son's friend, whose house burned down. Yesterday when I went out to get Madame, I observed that the tire that perennially has a slow leak was quite low again. Any time the temperature drops, it loses pressure. Its mate on the opposite side is the new one that was installed after the Sparrowhawk's unfortunate encounter with a light fixture, so they don't match at all. The Sparrowhawk took it to Discount Tire today. They've been repairing the loser tire for a couple of years now, and told us that our other tires were still good, and they'd let us know when we needed to replace them. Well, the day has come. The tread was finally down to the point where new tires were advisable. So we got three additional new tires and now they're new all around. That was another big bite, but given that we're planning a road trip in a couple of weeks, it had to be done.

Two nice things about today: the Sparrowhawk says I make his birthday feelings last forever. And Tron says that she will come and see us tomorrow, even though the Lumberjack is still too sick to travel. I look forward to seeing her.
