I was hoping this would be a "free" day when I had nothing on the schedule and would get a whole lot done! Instead everything just got weird, as the Sparrowhawk and I both woke up way too early. We kept each other company in a woebegone fashion, having a cup of tea and reading while the sun came up etc. etc. About 9:30, we decided it was time for a nap, and went back to sleep until nearly noon. SIGH. I took a shower, got a bite to eat, sat in the back yard for a time enjoying the lovely weather but not feeling up to weeding anything. In the later afternoon, I decided to make a grocery run. Tomorrow is The Birthday--Bilbo's and Frodo's Birthday. I texted Dr. Nurse to see if she'd like to drop by with her family and partake of some hobbit food with us, but I didn't hear from her until later. I decided I'd better shop as if she were coming.

The Sparrowhawk was still feeling tired and not in great spirits, so I also wanted to get something fast and easy so his schedule wouldn't be thrown off even more by waiting for his dinner. The store-made chicken pot pies were reduced in price, so I got us two of those. It turned out that one, aplit into two servings, was more than enough. They're quite tasty and have a good amount of chicken in them. With some leftover veggies from a different dinner and a nice green salad with peppers, avocado and feta in it, this made a good, fast dinner. After that I made a batch of cookies for distribution to another family of friends who have little kids. Sometimes I think that foraging, cooking, and serving of food is the only thing I'm actually good at, but I suppose if you have just one skill, it's good for it to be one that fosters survival.
