IronOre/Space Day of Leave
Oct. 4th, 2023 09:13 pmWell, I said I was going to talk about the golden leaves, but not today, because I'm feeling lazy and we're watching The Amazing Race. Currently pondering whether I would eat bugs if they were nicely prepared. For a million dollars, yes; as a standard menu item, no, I would probably not order them. Even though roasted bugs are not fundamentally weirder than oysters, which I consider delicious.
So anyway, today was Madame Day. She looked great after her cataract surgery, and said her sight was better. Right now, she's experiencing the same problem I did between surgeries. Until they do the second surgery, your eyes don't quite track, because one is better and the other isn't. Other than that, pretty much the usual. She met me in the driveway, but had forgotten her cane. So she left her bag and jacket in the car, went back to look for her cane, and returned with a second jacket and no cane. When ordering her salad plate, she was charged 22.00, gave them a twenty and two pennies, and couldn't understand the problem. So I just gave them the two bucks. I tried again to explain it to her at the table, but no dice, so I just shrugged and said the counter person was a trainee, which was true. I thought we were ready to leave . . . but, bathroom trip, and then when the waiter came to collect her plate, she decided she wanted to eat the rest of it after all, and snatched it back off the tray! Back at her house, she couldn't find the garage door opener that she clearly had in her hand when we left. So I walked her up the steps. She did find her door key and went in that way! The UNusual bit was when I got back in the car at last and was going to skedaddle, but first a wasp stung me and had to ushered out the window. No good deed goes unpunished . . . but maybe that's not true, because the wasp didn't fully get its stinger embedded in me. It just gave me an admonitory shot, and then buzzed away. So it quit hurting pretty fast.
I went out for a walk while the Sparrowhawk was at the gym. I was saying goodbye to the sweet summery air. Tomorrow they say it will rain and then the temperature will drop 20 degrees.
