Wheat of Leave
Oct. 12th, 2023 10:00 pmThat flu shot has flattened me. Last night was the most misery since I had covid. All my joints hurt, including my fingers. My legs were so stiff and achy that I could barely move. I had to sleep in my fleece, because I had chills even under the down comforter. I've been slowly improving through the day, but I feel intensely stupid, and any demand for cognitive activity merely enrages me. As hard as I tried to remain vertical, I crashed and had to take a nap after supper. I've never been so sick from a flu shot before. I suppose it's because they gave me the super duper trivalent shot with extra antibodies. Bah. My body has just had it with invasive viruses, with shots, with the whole thing. I was hoping today would be a good day to get things done, but once again, today was not that day.
I had to do one thing, because I had optimistically thawed out some meat yesterday, planning to cook it up today so we could have available leftovers. Raw meat waits for no man, nor no woman either, so much as you might want to do self care, you're gonna be cooking. Fortunately I can pretty much do this on automatic pilot. I had one hunk of pork shoulder and one of corned beef. First I browned the beef. While it was sizzling, I coated the pork with spice rub and pre-steamed some sweet potatoes. Took the beef out, coated it with mustard and spices, wrapped it in foil and put it in the oven. Then I browned the pork, added the sweet potatoes and a bottle of beer, covered the dutch oven, and put that in the oven too. Then I was DONE, but two or three hours later, there was dinner, plus leftover slices for lunches etc. Under normal circumstances, I'd have made some more veggies, but not today. I hope I feel better tomorrow, because Tron and the Lumberjack are coming for a quick visit, and I'd like to be able to enjoy it!
