ismoI couldn't blog because the wifi at the hotel went out, and never came back! A hell of a thing to do over Thanksgiving . . . went out for a ride and never came back. I guess the wifi had a hungry heart. I'm randomly quoting Springsteen in case there's someone here who has never listened to the Boss. My brain was probably in too much of a whirl to do so effectively anyway. This morning, we went over to the Philosopher's house and walked to a neighborhood restaurant with him and his family for one last breakfast together. It was a Greek place, and I had the best yogurt with fruit, walnuts, and honey. Aquinas had some non-cheerios (crunchy o's that are full of healthy something or other) and banged his hands joyously on the table. He was a happy boy, but then he almost always is. We were very sad to leave, but all good things must come to an end. So much love and happiness.
We got home before dark and before the snow that's supposed to show up around midnight. As I hauled the luggage up the driveway, I could smell it coming. Much as I love my kids, I am still hugely grateful to be home and look forward to sleeping in my own bed. I gave the Sparrowhawk some hot dogs and potato chips for supper, to eat while watching the Michigan-Ohio state game. We're happy. The only problem is, there are no Thanksgiving leftovers in the refrigerator! I don't think the Philosopher and Lovely Friend have many either. They have a little bit of mac and cheese, a little bit of stuffing, and maybe some collard greens. They very sensibly didn't cook a whole turkey. They got a small, pre-cooked half turkey that they reheated. It was delicious, but there's not much left of it. But we got to have leftovers for lunch with them on Friday, so we've had our share. We've had our share of everything necessary.
