Eh. Discouragement. Nights with not enough sleep. Days spent repelling dementors. Yesterday was Madame Day, rather than today. She said her son was coming over today, so she wanted me to come yesterday. I think she may have confused her schedule regardless, because she got a call while we were out that flustered her considerably, from someone else who thought they were coming to visit her on Tuesday. Ah well. Better to have too many visitors than too few. We were having a pretty good time until she got back onto the subject of her car, and then it was just depressing. Lots of anger and thinking that people are doing things behind her back. She thinks she's going to get herself a car and drive back to her house, and then everything will be great. Alas, it won't be. I tread a fine line between appearing to agree with everything she says, which I don't, and not being sympathetic enough, although I am. It's quite painful.

I was happy when I got up this morning and it WASN'T Madame Day. Once again most of what I did was shopping and cooking, although I have a lot of other things that need doing. I found that the chicken I thawed out was not breasts with ribs, but boneless ones. So I got over-ambitious and decided to make pan fried breaded chicken strips, which the Sparrowhawk likes. And while I was at it, I made mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy to go with it. And broccoli. And then the kitchen was quite a mess, so I cleaned everything up. As I said, over-ambitious. But the chicken and gravy was a hit.

Somewhere in the midst of all this, we got a text from the Diva to say that Kansas had come out of his heart surgery as well as could be expected, and would be going up to the ICU in an hour to be monitored round the clock for the next 24 hours, and then they'd see. This was a huge relief, although we're still thinking of her and Kansas with concern daily, hoping and praying for a speedy and good recovery. We also learned that the Nipper and family WILL be coming for Christmas, although not for long--come the 23rd, go home the 26th. We don't know yet if Tron will be here during that time. She says she's going to talk to the Lumberjack about Christmas when she gets home from Ghana. The new bed frame has arrived, and the Sparrowhawk got Dr. Music to help him carry it downstairs after the music lesson. The mattress is still en route. Then we'll have to put it all together. Not looking forward to tomorrow. I'm having two of the most anxiety-producing encounters: medical people and financial people! I'd rather get along without either.
