SnowCrest of Celeste
Jan. 2nd, 2024 09:27 pmLast night, I felt a bit feverish and my stomach was hurting, so I think I may have fallen prey to some little virus or other. Today I almost had another day of total pajamas, but managed to change into something semi-respectable before my second Zoom of the day. I also had a phone call in the morning with my friend in Minnesota. She had a bad fall recently, and then her cat died yesterday. A good deal of commiseration and concern was necessary. This was the last of the cats that I had met personally, the one I used to think of as the kitten. It's an unwelcome reminder that time has been passing.
One of my prominent goals this year is to take better care of myself. I don't seem to be making great strides with that after one day. Yesterday I had to choose between a nap and a walk. I didn't have time for both. The nap won. Today I didn't have either, but since I've been lounging around so much, I have been getting some rest. When we were at the Duchess's house on Christmas Day, the kids were talking about the idea of choosing a word of the year. Dr. Nurse had recently heard of this and was thinking it over. It's something I did a couple of times, awhile ago, but gave up because it didn't seem particularly useful. The Nipper said that the Sparrowhawk's word of the year was optimism, every year. Very true! I said mine seemed to be anarchy, also every year. Probably too old to change . . .
