ShortDays of Sleet
Jan. 17th, 2024 09:55 pmI have very little to report, since I spent the entire day swilling the Vile Potion as prep for my procedure. Before I started in on that project, I hastened out to shovel the driveway again. I hope it doesn't snow too much overnight, because we have to go to the clinic early, and I will be in no shape to do it again. The Sparrowhawk swept the snow off the car later, and he asked Dr. Music to shovel the end of the driveway, which he did when he came for the music lesson. We also had a visit from the electrician, who replaced the switches in the kitchen. Hopefully this will stop them from turning themselves on and off at random, which was a bit creepy. I replied to texts from both Mademoiselle and Madame, inquiring if I was coming to visit Madame today. The answer was no, as I had informed her in a rather long conversation on Monday, but I'm not surprised that she forgot.
I started off in the morning with the intent to get things done around the house, since I'd be trapped here all day. It went well for a short time, and then I lost all semblance of moxie. Whoever invented this protocol has much to answer for. I suppose the advantage is that it made me so sick that I didn't mind not eating anything. Mr. and Ms. Science have arrived and are somewhere in town. Tomorrow they will visit the Duchess, and on Friday they'll come and see us. I really hoped that I could do various chores to make my house more sparkly than it is, as well as coming up with some nice refreshments, but it seems they'll have to take me as I am--NOT READY, as usual. We were going to take the Christmas tree down, but last night we went and sat in the living room with the lights off and gazed at the tree lit up against the snow outside the window, and sang some favorite Christmas carols to the best of our ability, and I decided "the hell with it, I'm not taking it down tonight."
