I've been doing one thing a day lately. Today I did two things, which is good I guess, but still not the best. I had trouble staying asleep in the night, but slept late in the morning. Then we went to the farmers market to get things for the coming holidays. I bought fresh cranberries, mushrooms, brussels sprouts, leeks, lots of salad, parsley and dill, baby cabbages, and two kinds of apples--Evercrisp for Raptor to eat, and Northern Spies for baking. We'll have to go back on Wednesday, a special extra market day for the holiday, to pick up our turkey. Going to the market is always invigorating and fun. Except that then I came home and had a tremendous coughing fit that was no fun at all and made my chest hurt. I had to sit down and drink another variety of my special tea and waste time, instead of doing all the stuff that would have made it possible for me to put the veggies in the refrigerator, so I'm going to have to dump them out in the garage overnight. I couldn't have put them away properly anyway, because I needed to use the sink, which was full of dishes. I may have neglected to mention that the dishwasher is not working, again. We have the worst luck with dishwashers! This is the third one we've had, and they all die.

I took pictures of the buckthorn in the back yard. We went to church, which again was hard because I think of all the people who are dead or otherwise absent. The Sparrowhawk very wisely brought home some more Chinese takeout before church so we could quickly heat it up after. Dragon and Phoenix again for me. It's so mild, and has lots of crispy vegetables in it. I've been pretty much living on this stuff for the last month. I got as far as bringing the clean sheets upstairs, but haven't put them on the bed yet. I read a couple more cantos of the Purgatorio. And now I have to sneeze again . . . this medicinal tea seems of limited utility . . . .

one or two things a day is normal

in convalescence. (ask me how i know.) and if i try to do more than that, i do not pass go and instead find myself helpless and in bed again. big pet had to get very strict with me about it. "do what you can AND THEN STOP," she whisper-yells.

and now i get the occasional Day of Doing One Quarter of What I Could Do Before Breakfast in the before times. i guess i should've been more impressed with myself back in the day.

We are having ham for Thanksgiving, because it really has to get out of the freezer.
