Conifer of Ember; or, St. Nicholas Day
Dec. 6th, 2024 09:28 pmI did actually cook tonight, albeit nothing more complicated than a mushroom and cheese omelet with smoked salmon. Plus some broccoli and a salad. The smoked salmon was a Thanksgiving remnant. We got it to go with the kids' cheese plate, but they were so into the cheeses they didn't care about the salmon.
I had a revisit with my doctor this morning to discuss the cloisterfarce that is my BP medications. I now have a new pill arrangement. We'll see if it works any better. She also offered to get me some Wegovy. Arrghhh. I told her that was never going to happen. She then offered that I could try Wellbutrin. I explained that she had already prescribed that for me some years ago and it was in my file. It had no effect whatsoever, except possibly to make me a tiny bit more irritable than I am already. People! DOCTORS!! On the way home, I stopped in the bagel shop and got us some bagels to ease my troubled mind.
Happy St. Nicholas Day to all! We sent treats to all the kids, but forgot to get some for ourselves. However, the Sparrowhawk made an emergency run and brought some home, although we put them on the table in a very mundane manner rather than finding them mysteriously in a shoe. The box of red candles I ordered was delivered today, too. Now we can burn them as much as we want to enlighten the gloom of winter.
