Oh boy . . . Well, the day started well, with doing guided meditation with the Sparrowhawk and then off to see my therapist. She's getting around with a walker, and it was nice to see her. I did not, in fact, rush into the room in my pajamas and yell "FIX ME," but I did tell her I'd been thinking about it, and she laughed quite a lot. Then she said demurely, as therapists must, that I would fix myself. Okay, but don't hold your breath, Madame. That may take awhile.

Things went slightly pear-shaped tonight, when I called my mother. First of all, my phone was screwed up again, so I had to use the Sparrowhawk's. Then it took 20 or 30 minutes to finally get hold of Mother. At one point, she called back, and I could hear in the background that one of her helpers was in there dialing for her, but then she either hung up by accident, or the call dropped. When I did talk to her, she was in the same state as in January, when the Duchess took her to the ER. She was very confused and couldn't find the right words. She was talking like a stroke victim. So I called the shift supervisor and the Duchess. Eventually they both called back. The staff has noticed Mother's confusion. They tested a urine sample, but it came back negative. They're trying to make sure she drinks lots of water, remembering that the last time this happened, rehydration seemed to help. After talking to the Duchess, we decided it would be better for Mother to get a good rest rather than go to the ER at night. She's on Xarelto, which is supposed to prevent strokes. But it doesn't prevent every type of stroke. She could in theory be having some bleeding in her brain. The last time she went to the ER with this, they did every kind of test and found nothing. Tomorrow I will call her PCP's nurse and see if they want her to come in.

It's good you're able to look out for your mother.
