NorthernLight of Bluster
Mar. 3rd, 2025 09:52 pmNot much of a day. I had some thoughts about plans, but they were replaced by other requirements. I talked with Queenie this morning. A funny coincidence: she helped with the deacons' lunch at her church yesterday, I cooked for the potluck. They had sloppy joes and coleslaw, we had pulled pork on buns, and coleslaw. However, I secretly believe mine was the superior comestible.
The Fireman has retired, as I think I said, and they are celebrating by taking a cruise down the Danube this summer. We had such a good time together on the Rhine a couple of years ago, and they've invited us to join them on this one as well. So we have all signed up, and are excited about it. (We tried to get Deb and the Prussian to go, but Deb doesn't feel able to commit to that with her health the way it is. We also wish that the Duchess would come. We invited her last time, but she didn't feel this was their kind of thing and politely declined. The Duke is retired now, which might make a difference, but probably not.) Anyway, the prospect of a trip is exciting, but requires a lot of arranging. The Sparrowhawk got some travel insurance, which seems a necessity at this time of our lives and the life of the world. My call with Queenie disclosed that they already got their flight information from the tour people. We did not have ours. The Sparrowhawk spent over an hour on the phone straightening that out, and I spent the same amount of time assisting with a few comments and then hanging around in case I was needed again. That kinda used up my opportunity for walking.
Later, when the Sparrowhawk went off to the gym, I thought of exercising again, but I had a chapter still to read for our Zoom book club that was meeting tonight, so I exercised my brain on that instead. I also made some extra carbs and veggies to go with the leftovers we had for dinner. As a result, I feel disgruntled and at a loose end. My joints have been aching something fierce lately. I try to blame it on the inconstant weather. And now I must go to bed early because I have an appointment with the dermatologist at a really ungodly hour tomorrow.
