Today would have been my mother's 99th birthday. I have a big box of the postcards that she and my father collected from all the art museums they visited. Some of them they sent to people, but most of them they just liked to have and look at, so there's a vast hoard. I was looking for one that I wanted to send. Along the way, I found a couple of other boxes, some of which contained old photos. So I've enjoyed seeing some pictures of my mother as she used to be. Also my brother, and many others. Sigh. Things are different now. I had some thoughts about doing a little celebration, but they didn't work out because other things got in the way. The celebration had to remain imaginary.

Again I woke up too early, but I just stayed up to talk to Queenie while the Sparrowhawk did his money counting as usual. Then we had a little breakfast, and I considered all my ambitions to do things today. It turned out I had to take a nap instead. There went the rest of the morning. It was an insanely beautiful day, and I did manage to snatch a walk after my Zoom with Moonmoth and the Nonesuch ended and the Sparrowhawk went to the gym. The waxing moon was high in the sky. The buds are thick on the maple trees. I'm still extremely irritable and grumpy. Maybe my body hasn't caught up with Daylight Savings time yet. I'd love to blame it on something simple like that! I have a rebellious feeling that I don't want to do ANY of things that are written on the calendar. If I had a magic wand that dispensed fairy dust and sparkles, I'd make it be that everyone I know had zero medical problems and plenty of money, and then I'd go to the beach and camp out there (figuratively speaking--I'd find somewhere indoors for most of this camping) until the ice melted. I'd be tempted to melt it myself with fairy dust, but I'm sure that wouldn't be ecologically sound.

How many of those things on the calendar can you ditch?
