Happy first day of Spring! Last night, it snowed! And kept snowing all morning, rivers of white pouring down, pouring down the wind and covering all the hopeful shoots with frosty white. Our mission accomplished this morning was to go to the garden store and get a birthday remembrance for Dr. Nurse, whose birthday is tomorrow. For the last few years, it has become a tradition, at least in my own mind, to get her one of those bulb gardens where they plant a bunch of spring flowers in a broad, dish-shaped pot. The store lets you choose a blooming primrose in a pot to complete the array. We got one that was a blushing pink, a nice touch of color. We added an egg-carton seed starter for Bird Baby. Dr. Music was at home working, so we took it over and left it with him as a surprise. Later in the day, Dr. Nurse sent us adorable pictures of Bird Baby poking the seeds into the starter medium.

Then I came home and put together a grocery list, and dashed off to the store. I got a bunch of Easter candy that was somewhat reduced in price. Start early! As I'm always telling myself. The Sparrowhawk's special requests were orange juice, raisins, and rice pudding. Take-and-bake pizza was BOGO, so that's what we had for dinner, plus a large salad with peppers and cucumber. I find a big heap of salad makes pizza more digestible, sort of like a horse eating lots of hay with their oats. By the time I came home from the store, the sun had come out, and the snow melted instantly. The daffodils had continued to expand their buds in defiance, apparently aware that it is spring regardless of the snow.
