We had a free morning, which seems oddly rare for a couple of retired people. It was also Bach's birthday today, and our boys at Sirius XM put on a great all-day program. So it was cleaning and blasting Bach pretty much all day. We didn't get as much done as you might think. We had to take occasional pauses. I got our bathroom half-cleaned. I moved all the Christmas boxes that had been loitering in their staging area in my office back into their spots in the garret. I vacuumed most of the bedroom. On one of my breaks, I made a big pot of beans and some caprese salad. I removed some outdated items from the pantry. I decided I wanted eggs and mushrooms for dinner, and the Sparrowhawk wanted some too. We ended up eating eggs and mushrooms with sides of beans and tomato salad. It was not totally unlike huevos rancheros. The Sparrowhawk put salsa on his. There's still a lot of everything left to be done, but we've taken a few steps toward improvement.

Meanwhile, it's not only the birthday of Dr. Nurse and Bach, but of our own Muffinhead. We sent him some cash via his Venmo, since we're not sure of his exact physical address. He is living in Paris in an apartment that is part of a former hospital building. As one does, when young, adventurous, and bright. We wish him a very happy year from afar . . .
