AspenThicket of Bliss
May. 3rd, 2025 09:47 pmStill intensely tired all the time. This morning, we had a lovely brunch with Dr. Nurse, Dr. Music, and Bird Baby. Dr. Nurse brought an egg and ham casserole. It was supposed to contain a green vegetable, but instead of broccoli or spinach, she put in dandelion greens foraged from their back yard! They were delicious. I really liked the flavor. The Sparrowhawk made bacon, and I put out bread, butter, and jam, and strawberries, blueberries, and grapes. We've established a reputation for providing berries, and Bird Baby now expects to have them when she comes over. She is so smart and remembers EVERYTHING, and also hears EVERYTHING. She wanted to go outside, and she remembered my watering can from last year, and wanted to get it and water my plants again. It was thus that we discovered that the siding guys had taken the faucet handle off the hose pipe, so the water could not be turned on. Now we know it needs to be fixed. Dr. Music played some lovely pieces on the piano while we were getting brunch on. I told him it was like being in a fancy hotel. He also helped the Sparrowhawk change out the storm door for the summer screen. Our trilliums are blooming, and I rejoiced to see that my little paw paws survived the winter and are budding again.
After they went home, I was exhausted and tried to take a nap, but couldn't. Meanwhile, Strawberry Star and her husband Nebraska had invited us over for dinner. I reiterated the salad from yesterday, since I still had dressing and materials. They cooked venison for us, and it was very good. We ate and chatted on their back porch, and came home before it got dark. We watched the Derby, in which I failed utterly to pick a horse that would even place--as usual. I've definitely lost my touch, but at least I know it and don't bet. It was the muddiest Derby I've ever seen. I sincerely hope I won't do ANYTHING tomorrow, because I am too tired.
