SnakeRoot of Flourish
Sep. 20th, 2025 09:14 pmWe're having a real old-fashioned thunderstorm here, and it is delightful. We haven't had nearly enough of these, nor enough of the rain they bring. It's also delightful because we arrived home from our Dante book club just in time. We were getting sprinkled and the lightning was flashing in the distance as we fiddled with the key in the lock, and just as we successfully entered the house, the heavier rain and the thunder descended. The storm won't stay long enough, alas. But the gusts of rain-cooled air were delightful as well.
We had a fine time at the book club, which was held at the home of the GenXers and featured Mexican rice bowls plus beer, white wine, and cider contributed by us. And our lovely GenY friend had asked me what treats the Sparrowhawk liked, and made a perfect chocolate cake in honor of his recent birthday. He felt very special. We made our way through another five cantos, along with other lively discussions. I can't believe how early we go to bed these days . . . but I don't feel too bad given that one of our discussions was with a thirty-something about when he goes to bed now--also sometime before 10!
