I keep getting blind-sided by the setting sun. Whut--it is night already?? Does not compute. I've been having non-stop stomach pain for the last 36 hours. I am slightly hopeful that it might be getting better, but who knows. Yesterday, we had a satisfactory Zoom with Deb and the Prussian, the first after the Prussian's knee replacement. He is doing pretty well, maybe a little better than could be expected. It's been excessively tiring for Deb as well, but she took the iPad out to show us the garden pathway she created from repurposed granite countertops after their kitchen renovation. It's a remarkable creation! And she is a remarkable, creative, and diligent person! I can't believe the number of things she manages to get done.

Other than that, I did nothing much all day but mope gloomily, because stomach trouble has that effect on me. It's lucky we have all this food left over so the Sparrowhawk can have his choice of leftovers, because I have not felt like cooking at all. We had been invited to a gathering in the evening, a meetup with members of the Bruderhof who are in town for some kind of convention of intentional communities. By moping for long enough, I summoned a tiny bit of energy such that we were able to go. It was quite interesting talking to some older ladies from the Bruderhof, as well as other people from around here who are engaged in some kind of community building. There are more of these initiatives in the area than I was aware of. I could never join the Bruderhof myself, for many reasons. It's too much like a monastic community, and when I was a little Catholic girl, I used to pray NOT to have a vocation! My favorite part of the evening was having two of Fearless Leader's children, Gracie and her big sister, teach me to play mancala. Then we went home and I fell into bed in a state of exhaustion.

Today I had a dentist appointment followed by a visit to Madame. 'Nuff said, really! I took her out to the bookstore cafe, partly because I wanted her to see the autumn leaves before they fall. But I don't know how much longer I'll be able to do that. It's progressively more difficult for her even to walk down the long hall to the exit door. I have to accompany her to the bathroom at the bookstore when she has to go, because she cannot safely transfer to the toilet by herself. When we returned to her residence, there were two enormous buses, an ambulance, and a delivery van blocking the entrance. I had to park illegally as close as I could get and help Madame get to the lobby and sit down, then dash back to re-park the car, and return to help her get back to her room. Part of the way down the hall, she just ran out of gas and couldn't walk any more. I had her sit on the walker seat while I went to borrow a wheelchair, and then pushed her back to her room. Whew. Once she got back into her comfy chair, she was all right, but it was a bit of an adventure. We may not make too many more of these excursions. There's an end to all things, I guess, but it's sad to watch it happening in real time.

And then I had a Zoom with Moonmoth and the Nonesuch when I got home. We were all tired, and occupied ourselves with some nostalgic reminiscing about all the different places we had lived. I hope they weren't bored, because I enjoyed hearing the stories and learning a few new/old things I had either not known or not remembered.
