RockCrag of Shadow
Nov. 17th, 2025 08:07 pmI'm fed up with talking about how I am, because complaining with no resolution is tedious. I was inspired by Laurie Colwin's wonderful invented singing groups and their hits to look up a real group, the Jackson Southernaires, singing "No Tears In Heaven." They give concrete examples of things that will not exist in Heaven and thus won't require any crying, such as bill collectors, going to work on Monday morning, and all kinds of sickness and doctor visits. I know I will be so very happy in Heaven, because there will not be any coughing there, for sure. In "Goodbye Without Leaving," Geraldine is a backup dancer for Ruby Shakely and the Shakettes. One of their big songs is called "Jump for Joy." This made me think of how I used to put the Pointer Sisters on after work and dance with my girls in the kitchen to the tune of "Jump for My Love." In retrospect, the lyrics were hardly appropriate to share with primary schoolers, but they probably didn't hear them anyway! It's still a great video. Those are some happy memories.
I managed to get a few things done anyway. I talked to Queenie and sent her a book that I thought might be relevant to her interests, changed the sheets and towels, and then it was mostly all laundry until time for a Zoom with Moonmoth and the Nonesuch, which started out slowly because everyone was tired for various reasons, but became a lively discussion. I had suggested to the Sparrowhawk that we might have to have frozen pizza for dinner, but he preferred to go get . . . oh what could it be . . . not Chinese takeout again! Yes, our customary option for when we're not in a good mood for cooking. I appreciate him, but I can't even get enthusiastic about takeout. It is strictly blanket over the head time. Which is good, because now I have such a nice bed with all clean sheets to go and lurk in. Maybe we'll sleep well tonight.
