ImperialPansy of Bliss
May. 26th, 2018 10:12 pmI spent a lot of time yesterday morning on my mother's medical stuff, again. Thursday night I got a longer report on her appointment with Wound Care, and an urgent request to see if I could get her another appointment, this time with a geriatric specialist at her regular clinic. The Duchess was concerned because Mother seemed so confused, and seemed to be having difficulty walking. Miraculously, I was able to get her an appointment for Friday afternoon, and the Duchess was able to take her there. That was a huge relief to me, because I really didn't want to drive over there again this weekend. As expected (by me anyway), the whole thing was an anti-climax. They didn't find any specific causes for her problems, and she started feeling better when she got to the doctor's office, as is often the case. She has an avalanche of appointments coming up, related to the wound healing plus therapy to aid with that. I will have to take a look and see which ones I can do, as it is too much for the Duchess to take them on alone. Yesterday, I spoke briefly with my mother. She doesn't understand any of the care she is getting. It makes her angry, and she resists doing all the things that are good for her, because she doesn't see why she should have to. It's very sad. I also spent some time this morning exchanging emails with the siblings, in which we discussed the situation.
Anyway, I'm grateful to have a relatively undisturbed weekend. Today was very relaxing--perhaps too much so, since I probably should have tried to get more exercise. But it didn't work into the process of the day. It was a beautiful day, although it was hot. I put on a swim suit first thing in the morning, to amuse the Sparrowhawk and because I thought it would be nice and cool. This was partially responsible for my lazy day. It's impossible to get very much done if you're wearing a swim suit all day, even if you can't sit by the pool because there isn't one. I was sitting by the pool of my mind. I think my sugar snap peas are finally sprouting. I hope they'll produce something. I should have had them in the ground a month ago. St. Patrick's Day is the traditional day for planting peas, but in March, the ground was frozen solid. Even a month ago, it was still snowing!! Now it's 90 degrees. Traditional planting schedules may have to be readjusted for the 21st century.
