BreadRoot of Trill
Apr. 7th, 2026 08:40 pmAnother busy day. The Sparrowhawk did his money counting today rather than yesterday. They usually take an extra day after a big feast. And there were no doughnuts. The outrage! He got home in the nick of time for our Zoom with Deb and the Prussian. We're using our spare time, such as it is, to reorganize things for a potluck we're hosting on Sunday. This will take some doing, because we have to find space for more than the usual number of guests. We're not sure HOW many more yet. People are urged to RSVP, but they don't seem to be very good at that, so far.
Timothy's men's group met at our house tonight, in the absence of the usual host. Math Fairy dropped her husband off here and gave me a ride over to the home of La Pucelle, who offered to have the women's group over. She offered us a delightful assortment of Easter treats, which I admired but did not partake of, because my stomach is bothering me. I cooked a nicer dinner tonight--pan fried chicken chunks with mushrooms and onions, in a gravy made of chicken stock, white wine and cream, with pepper and herbs. Plus noodles and steamed broccoli. I was going to make a salad, but ran out of time. The Sparrowhawk said it was delicious, and it certainly made the house smell good, but I'm afraid it's not agreeing with me.
The man from EverDry finally showed up. At first he said he thought we had a crack in our foundation, but not to worry, because he would come back with more help and patch it. On further examination, he decided it was unlikely to be a crack. But he doesn't know what it is, so he's still going to come back with more help and equipment and check it out in more detail. But not for another couple of weeks. I wish it would not rain during that intervening time, but I know that it will. The river is hovering at flood stage, as explained to us by Wood Elf, who works for the municipal water system. Meanwhile, it will go down below freezing again tonight. This is some weird weather, as I seem to observe every couple of days.
