BlackSwan of Bloom
May. 29th, 2018 11:38 pmI'm very depressed today, and I haven't taken any good measures to get myself out of it, so I'm just here to serve as a bad example. I don't thrive in temperatures over 90 degrees, because I just don't want to leave the house. It was already over 80 when I got up, so I was all like DO NOT WANT and refused to go out and weed. And then I just went from bad to worse. I also roamed the house declaiming about my discontents like an Icelandic skald recounting the saga of some particularly unfortunate viking.
Mr. Science has stopped on his way home from his northern retreat to visit our mother, and I'm really glad that he's going to see her. He will see for himself how things are going, and perhaps he will get some information out of her. She adores him and loves to talk to him. At the same time, I'm a bit put out because I was having a brief conversation with her on the phone when he walked in, and I heard her greeting him. She is so lovey-dovey to the other kids, and calls them honey and whatnot. She's even like that with my cousin, California Joe, but she's not like that with me. I'm used to this, and I would feel uncomfortable if she did start sweet-talking me, but it does kinda hurt my feelings when I get my nose rubbed in it.
Tomorrow I will Have A Plan and not let things get out of hand. Tomorrow I resolve to not wear my pajamas after noon. I hope there will be a thunderstorm. That always cheers me up, provided the power does not go out and no trees fall on my house. Maybe I'll watch Secretariat winning the Belmont again. And call on the power of the Big Red Horse--my totem animal.
