Pronghorn of Simmer
Aug. 5th, 2018 10:48 pmMovie Pass: still down.
Weather: still very hot.
Mother: still confusing as all get out. Told Queenie she hadn't eaten--then called back and said, "Oh, wait, I forgot. We had barbecued pork."
We went to church this morning, because it was mysteriously Music Sunday. Usually Music Sunday is a big deal with a lot of rehearsing and special music. This year, I heard a rumor and queried a friend, and heard on Tuesday that oh yeah, come early because we ARE playing with the choir. I put this down to both the choir director and the instrumental boss having new boyfriends! Both of our wonderful young people--a flutist and a violinist--who have gladdened our hearts this year are going away to school shortly, and they were both there today to play with us one last time. So we had a full complement of two flutes, two violins, an oboe, and a bass. In spite of the short notice and sketchy rehearsal, I have to say we sounded great. We did a prelude, postlude and special music on our own, and several pieces with the choir. Even I did well and I have no regrets for once. Pie Jesu sounded particularly nice.
