Not a very productive day--I stayed up too late, and then got up too early to go to my doctor's appointment. She did a quick EKG on me because I was complaining about chest tightness and fatigue as I try to regain my fitness. My heart is perfect as always. That's what I expected. Good to know, though. She recommended that I use my inhaler more often. The unfortunate thing was that she kept going in and out of the room because--as I could hear through the closed door, willy-nilly--she was making phone calls to get CPS involved to help a very young child who had shown up in her office with an STD. That was just terribly upsetting to hear.

I thought of going for a walk before I went home, but noticed there was a button missing on my shirt. Oops. Went home to change my shirt before public display, and became discouraged because it was too darn hot by that time. I dithered around, thinking I might go to the mall and walk. That's what I did yesterday. It's interesting to go to the mall every couple of months (I really don't like shopping!), but yesterday, I immediately started thinking, "These are not real clothes! These are not real shoes! This is not real food!" Creeping fogeyism! However, I was walking and texting, just like a millennial, so not TOO fogeyish. I went upstairs to change my shirt. The fan was still on in the bedroom . . . it seemed so nice and cool . . . hmm . . . mayyybe I could just lie down for a few minutes . . . . I took a LONG nap that sucked up quite a lot of productivity time--but it was nice.

I did motivate myself to go for a walk later. It was still quite warm, but more pleasant when the sun was low, and the evening light made all the colors glow. I heard a woodpecker drumming as I passed under a big oak tree, and I saw a hawk in flight, chasing a small bird. I hope the bird made it to the shelter of the trees before the hawk got it! But their flight made a beautiful ballet across the sky. There were little wisps of cloud, not big enough to be mare's tails, more like angel feathers. When I got to the pond, a hawk startled me by flying out of the willow tree and across the water, right in front of me. I wonder if it was the same one. It was a short walk, but worth it. I'm glad I didn't talk myself out of the pleasure.
