FireAnt of Flourish
Sep. 14th, 2018 10:35 pmThe Diva and I went out in the back yard today and did a little weeding. I harvested a nice pile of green beans from my vines--even thought the tripod had sort of blown over in the last storm. The Diva snipped a lot of kale leaves. For dinner, the Sparrowhawk made steak and baked potatoes, and we also cooked the beans, and the Diva made kale crisps in the oven. I thought the beans were really tasty. I hope we'll get a few more before the season is over.
The Diva and I went for a long walk. We saw a guy fishing, and I was telling the Diva about the fisherman that I told about seeing the giant snapping turtle, and how he claimed he'd caught one once. Just then, we saw a big soft-shelled turtle swimming through the water lilies. And then when we got to the end of the boardwalk, the DIVA SAW THE GIANT TURTLE! He was huge--like, the size of a suitcase. Just lying in the mud, occasionally emitting bubbles from one end or the other. He just poked his head up to the surface for a moment. We were congratulating each other when we saw yet a third turtle--this one probably a red-eared slider. He was just a baby and was prudently swimming away from the monster into the cover of some weeds.
I'm afraid Muffinhead and Angelbaby are kind of bored and wish they were home. They're really past the age where they can be taken to the zoo or something. However, Kansas pointed out to them that if they were home, they wouldn't have any power, so they wouldn't be able to read on their devices, or play the electric guitar, or any of the other things they're amusing themselves with right now. Also, they're kind of enjoying lounging and sleeping, and they do have literally thousands of books to choose from if they need reading material.
