Owlet of Bliss

I did a lot of sorting and possibly finished consolidating everything left into one file box. Although, never say never. I could still find more! That doesn't count a couple of cardboard boxes of very old letters and papers that I'm not going to mess with at this point. My living room is still strewn with half-emptied storage containers containing other things--like office supplies, CDs, and a crucifix with Jesus rather rudely wrapped in a clean disposable diaper, those being the packing materials that were plentiful when we were boxing things up.

We went for a walk in the morning, before it had quite started to rain. The fresh, wet air was pleasant. My flowerbed would be much more pleasing to me if Creatures of Evil were not merrily eating each tulip as it blooms. It's a sad sight.

The day is overshadowed by the latest email from the Duchess. The good news is that she will be able to take Mother to the gyno/urologist tomorrow, via wheelchair bus. The disturbing news is that things were not going well when she visited Mother today. The nurse manager has moved on from suggesting palliative care to telling her that it has been suggested that Mother needs to be in hospice now. The staff will be having an evaluation meeting soon and will let us know. Meanwhile, the Duchess is going to Florida for a week, so I may need to handle this if it happens any time soon. Honestly, I am not surprised. I have felt for some time that Mother was heading away from this life. However, the Duchess doesn't understand why they're saying that. I hope they will come up with an explanation that allows her to be at peace with it.
