We had a fairly relaxing day. I contacted the dining services who prepared refreshments after the memorial service and got the price from them, and sent a check. I also contacted the pianist who played the music and learned what I need to send him. At the time I had just spaced out totally on giving anyone a check, but I'm sure that's not the first time it's happened. I didn't send the pianist his money yet, because he got back to me too late in the day. I think the food service overcharged us, but the pianist has asked too little. I'm considering whether I could just add something to his payment. Bureaucrats always charge too much, and artists are too diffident. I went to the bookstore and got a birthday card for the Duchess, and sent it. I texted Tron and Queenie--who are namesakes in real life--and checked up on them. Tron is awaiting results from an MRI. Queenie is awaiting the birth of a grandchild via her stepdaughter, plus the usual stuff about our mother's death. No news so far.

We went to the garden store and bought a few plants on sale, to place in the shade garden where Tron and I cleared away weeds. It's hot as blazes today. I could feel my shirt sticking to me by the time we unloaded the plants. It was a good day to spend the afternoon at the movies, watching "Spiderman: Far From Home." It was a good time--exciting and fun. And omg, without spoilering, it was twisty! It certainly raised some questions about what the hell is going on in the Marvel universe. I must say, it's getting less and less realistic to imagine that Peter Parker can go back to high school. That kid would have issues the size of one of the numerous buildings he is partially responsible for demolishing. Especially right now--I mean, come on, he was DEAD. He died in a distant part of the galaxy in Tony Stark's arms. And now he's going to fit himself back into high school? I'm having trouble buying that. In fact, I think that in general, they're going to have to pretend the Blip never happened, because the mass dislocation and disruption that would be going on is more than the movies can handle as a mere sidelight. Maybe they have a plan for dealing with all of this, but trust me, the after-credits scene is not going to help you with that. But it was fun.
