We both slept late this morning. I guess we were tired! I had been dreaming that I was supposed to meet Tron at the beach. Which I am, of course--just not until Thanksgiving. I'm happy to say that I feel perfectly fine, and have no aftereffects whatsoever from the fall. I have a tiny bruise on my left palm that doesn't even hurt. I think everyone should be taught to fall when they're young and invulnerable, so they can remember how to do it when they're old and fragile. Of course, I didn't really learn how to fall until I was 40, but I still felt mostly invulnerable then.

It was a windy, rainy day. Sleeping late meant that my plan to get outside before the rain came was not perfectly successful. I took an umbrella and had a quick walk as it started to sprinkle. The wind was the real problem. To manage an umbrella in the wind requires you to hold the umbrella facing the wind, like a shield, so the wind can't slip underneath the fabric and turn it inside out. But if the wind is gusty and veering, the umbrella will get away from you and then the whole project goes to hell. Unless you're Mary Poppins.

40 is young
