Hail of Leave
Oct. 19th, 2017 10:08 pmStill hanging in there. I was going to excuse myself from posting again, but what the heck. Yesterday I drove over to take my mother to the doctor. The total appointment, including having her ear irrigated and getting labs done, took two hours--due partly to confusion in the office and orders not getting properly sent. It was a long trip. I started out at 8:30 and didn't get back until after 6. I was exhausted when I got home. It really took a lot out of me, more than usual, even though the weather couldn't have been better and the traffic was not bad at all. The getting home early part definitely did not happen, however. The Sparrowhawk had noodles with tomato sauce with mushrooms and ground beef in it waiting for me. This was great, because I was starving.
Today was Another Beautiful Day (tm). In the 60s, balmy, sunny. I spent the morning pottering around the house, doing various chores like email and cleaning that I couldn't do yesterday. Alas, it somehow took me too long, and I didn't get out for a walk, but I did go over to the lake to work on stuff for awhile. The water has come up closer to the shoreline again, after all the rain. It is pellucid--a word I like almost as much as the thing it describes--and every now and then a single crisp golden leaf falls and swirls around in the wavelets, sending out tiny ripples. When I got home, I decided to make those peanut butter cookies that I didn't make before the trip. I had all the ingredients. And since I wasn't making them for my mother's digestion, I put some peanut butter chips and some chocolate chips in them as well. The Sparrowhawk says they're like crack. I'm going to put most of them in the freezer where we will (I hope) forget about them for awhile and take them out only as needed.
